4 Paws 4 Mason & Olivia

I would like to take a minute and introduce you to our family.  Jason and I are high school sweethearts and have been married for 11 years. We were blessed with 4 children.  Clayton is 14 and a freshman in high school.  Jenna is 11 and a 5th grader.  Mason is 8 and is in 3rd grade.  Finally Olivia is 5 and is in kindergarten.  Jason is a delivery driver for Furbay Electric Supply in Canton, I am a stay at home mom.  I left my  job 2 years ago to care for Mason and Olivia who both have Epilepsy.  We have found out both Olivia and Mason have a rare genetic disease called Glut 1 Deficiency Syndrome and this is what causes them to have seizures.  In 2011 we had the opportunity to get Mason and Olivia a seizure alert dog. Pippi lets us know if they are going to have a seizure and helps comfort them during and after the seizures.  This allows us to keep them safe and administer medication.  She also will comfort Olivia during meltdowns, and actually helps to prevent them. We also use Pippi to encourage Olivia to talk to new people she meets because this is an area she struggles in.  Pippi has been a true blessing to our family and I am grateful we had the amazing opportunity to work with 4 Paws For Ability.

WE DID IT !!!  We brought home Pippi on Sept. 23rd 2011

Hi I am Mason and this my sister Olivia.  I started 3rd grade, and Olivia's in kindergarten this year.  We are both very excited to go to school.  We both have Epilepsy and Mom says we are special and that is why we have Pippi.

We have been given a opportunity by a unique organization called 4 Paws For Ability. 4 Paws is a nonprofit organization that helps families with special needs acquire service dogs. They trained and prepared Pippi for us.  She is perfect!!

Pippi is trained just for Mason and Olivia.  She is trained to alert us when Mason or Olivia are about to have or are having a seizure. Pippi is trained to respond when Mason or Olivia are having behavioral issues, such as sensory overload, tantrums, and in stressful situations. She is be to be able to respond to a situation to help calm them both.

In September 2011 we were required to travel to Xenia OH and stay there for 10 days to complete training with Pippi.  She is an amazing part of our family.

Because Pippi is a service dog, she does require a lot of care.  We are required to have regular veterinary visits and medications, regular grooming, we have purchased health insurance for her, plus her daily needs of food and treats for training.  Her health is very important to us, and we have to make sure her needs are met.

If anyone would like to make a donation to help with Pippi's care it would be greatly appreciated.
