4 Paws 4 Mason

WE DID IT !!!  We brought home Pippi on Sept. 23rd.  Details are posted on the news tab.

Hi I am Mason.  I am a special 6 year old who will start kindergarten in the fall.  I have 1 brother Clayton, and 2 sisters Jenna, and Olivia.  Mom says I have a seizure disorder.  There are days when I have a bunch and it makes me really tired.  Mom says I am going to get a special friend, not the usual kind the kind with 4 paws. 

We have been given a opportunity by a unique organization called 4 Paws For Ability. 4 Paws is a nonprofit organization that helps families with special needs acquire service dogs. Mason has been approved for the placement of a Seizure Alert Service Dog! As part of the application process we have agreed to partner with 4 Paws to fund raise the $13,000 it will cost to train the perfect partner for Mason.

Now that we have reached our goal, 4 Paws will, in return, choose and train a service dog specifically for Mason. His dog will be trained to alert us when Mason is about to have or is having a seizure. They will also train the dog to respond when Mason is having behavioral issues, such as sensory overload, tantrums, and in stressful situations. The dog will be to be able to respond to a situation to help calm Mason.

Now that we have completed our fundraising requirement for 4 Paws we will travel to Xenia in September 2011.  We are required to stay there for 10 days to complete training with Mason's new partner. 

We will be responsible to pay for all travels expenses, including hotel, food, and transportation.  It will be up to us to raise a total of about $5000 to cover all of those expenses on our own not through 4 Paws For Ability. 

We have reached our goal for travel expenses!~  Any further donations will be used to care for Pippi, like veterinary care, supplies, food....etc.  Our community is amazing.  Any additional funds will be used towards Mason and his service dogs care.
